What to stock 10 gallon tank with?

I recently bought a 10 gallon tank this is the second time I have had one. I have the filter gravel, some fake plants, and a heater ready to go. However I am wondering what to stock my tank with. I like the idea of a main centerpiece fish with different kinds of smaller fish. Any ideas appreciated thanks.

Update:

Yes I have an API dechlorinator and am going to get a testing kit and will make sure to cycle the tank before adding any fish.

Dwarf gouramis are only territorial with their own species, they get along just fine with other types of fish.

The dwarf gourami could be very colorful, and could be that statement fish you're talking about. He'll be fine in a 10g, but it is low on space, so I'd look to get a bottom-of-the-tank fish for your smaller species.

I would recommend 3 cories, but that might be overstocked. Shrimp can look very cool, perhaps cherry or ghost, and you could get anywhere from 1-6 ish in there.

Your not ready to go unless your tank is cycled. Google fish less cycling or buy some hardy fish like a betta and use tetra safe start to cycle your tank. You will need a API water testing kit and when you see 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 0.5-.10 nitrate your tank is cycled and then ready for fish.

A 10 gallon tank I would recommend small schooling fish like neon tetras and maybe 3 fancy male guppies.

Some corydoras and some neon, guppy or platy. Could put couple zebra danios too if you like them.

You need bacteria to build up first so buy some from pet shop and drop a bit food to rot on empty tank for more bacteria. Guppies, zebra danios, betta and goldfish usually survive in tanks without bacteria and help make bacteria with their poop :P

cory cats guppies and a small tetra group of some kind except for neons from petsmart as those die easy

I'd go with a sparkling gourami for a centerpiece and either five male guppies or eight male endlers.
