Let the star player's points = x.
Let everyone else's points add up to y. (So x+y is the total score.)
There are 9 other players, so they average y/9
You are given that x = 3 (y/9)
You are asked to find x / (x+y)
Since x = 3y/9 = y/3, you have y = 3x
Therefore x/(x+y) = x / (x + 3x) = x / 4x = 1/4
The star player scored 1/4 of the points scored by the entire team.
