Is it too early to buy an engagement ring (NOT to get engaged, to buy the ring)?

I already know my answer to this, I am just curious to what yours is.

I ve been dating my girlfriend for a year. She has graduated college, and I am entering my Junior year. I am proposing to her during second semester of my Junior year. I have a lot more free time over the summer, and I have more expendable income. I have been looking for an engagement ring, and have found the perfect one.

Is 6 months prior to engagement too early to buy the ring? We are both committed to marrying each other. I am not looking for marriage advise. I have more expendable income over the summer, and during the year I will have no free time between her, two jobs, school, and friends, and I want to make sure I find the right ring. Thoughts?

Buy the ring. If it doesn't work out between now and then you have a ring for a future relationship.

Make sure it's kept somewhere she won't find it. If you know you're proposing and will have the money in the summer instead of waiting until you're broke, then go for it.

you can buy the ring anytime you want to buy it. just be sure you can exchange it if she doesn't like it.

ask her what style she likes. don't want to buy her something she hates.

i would wait until you graduate university.
