I don't, here are the top 5 reason I suspect SOME users do.
1. Boredom
2. Entertainment
3. Trying to make others look bad (usually in controversial sections)
4. Low self esteem
5. Anger, trolling is a way to vent for some.

A troll is an angry person expressing anger. He puts some racist remark up on the board so that it draws an emotional response. He expresses his anger by making other people angry.
And that's the emotional gain of the whole thing.... he's a guy who needs attention - and he gets it this way.
