Is this a part of ADD?

Ok so I've come to accept my friend for who is, he has ADD and sometimes has trouble paying attention, but sometimes it can be a little tedious. So a few days ago we had both been talking about video games, no big deal, and I brought up with my friend how my dad thinks "videos games will destroy me mentally and spiritually" and then I said to my friend sarcastically and jokingly "oh please, public school has destroyed me mentally and spiritually" and then my friend not picking up on the sarcasm, says seriously "yea I know, if you're in school and you try to pray or read a bible they're gonna give you dirty looks". I wanted to punch him in the face to knock some sense into his brain. Not once did I mention religion or praying, I was simply telling a sarcastic joke in light of another event. However in the past my friend hasn't been able to pick up on sarcasm or anything like that, and I wonder if it's because of his ADD?
