Because of the Coriolis Effect, in the northern hemisphere it is easier to turn counter-clockwise. In the southern hemisphere, it is easier in the clockwise direction.
The difference is far to faint to detect with our human senses.

The truth is that everybody finds it easier to turn in one direction than the other. It has something to do with handedness, although there is not always a direct correlation. This is why in competition dance you will always see the dancers turning clockwise (on their own axis), or raising their right leg. In normal dance students are expected to defeat becoming one-sided by working hard on their weaker side to be able to perform movements equally well in either direction.
