Does a 17 year old girl have better economic sense?

So I was thinking.. What's the point of taxing a nation if a good portion gets thousands back in returns? Why is our tax code so long? Why is it so hard to understand? Why are we in constant debt?

Then, as I did more research, I came up with this:

- Flat tax percentage, one-size-fits-all, no returns or exemptions (if everyone paid, the percentage would be relatively low)

- Flat tax for companies as well, no special treatment

- Do away with unnecessary codes for companies (it takes an average of 7 years for an industry to get cleared for production in the US. Maybe that's why al America's companies have moved out...)

- Legalize weed and put a pretty tax on it as well (I'm not a user myself, but I've taken a look at the serious revenue that Colorado has generated from marijuana)

- Better regulation of welfare programs (spontaneous drug tests, make sure they're actively applying for jobs, etc.)

- Add a flat percentage onto taxes and do away with Obamacare's monthly crap (so basically Canada's system)

But anything like this will never be done because this is America and everything the government touches becomes 10x more complicated. Having a simple tax code would be absurd.

Could this work? It's all around fair and if all companies were treated equally, then big business wouldn't choke out small like it's doing right now.

Your system is alright, you're ignoring a few problems, that will cause issues down the line. You bought into a couple of 'million dollar issues' that are presented as 'billion dollar issues'(welfare, and benefits are peanuts in the budget, they're just used to scare people, depress people, make people judge each other, so they won't pay attention to the real 'billion dollar issues').

And you have 1 deal-breaker issue, No Special Treatment for Companies.

That would both fix any budget issue, in the entire World(because Industrial-Tax dodging is actually that prevalent(that much money is being sifoned off), that you would fix all budgets, and have money to spare all over the World, if that was introduced).

It would also prevent you from ever raising the funds to get elected.

That's the flaw, The People aren't in charge, so the Government isn't in-charge of getting things right, they work for Big-Financial Institutions, and Corporations, and they want to make profits, as much as possible, and they really don't care about The People.

What you fail to understand about a flat tax is that the poor need to keep a much higher percentage of what they make because actually need the money to live and none of their money is excess. The tax code is ridiculously complicated but no a 17 year girl just fails to grasp the complexities of the economy. As long as we keep electing war mongers there is no possible way they can take in as much as they spend.
