do tampons break anything?

So I'm really confused. It's the hymen that gets broken, right? So the tampon is inserted into the vagina but the hymen is untouched?

It's just that my culture is strict about pre-marital relationships etc. So when a man marries a woman and finds out she already broke her hymen he won't know whether she had done pre-marital things before marriage. He might divorce her. It's sad, but yeah, what can I do about it.

So anyways, if I use a tampon, I wanna make sure nothing breaks. I was reading that tampons don't break the hymen, but by accident they could. How does that happen?

Thanks for your answers

Most men cannot tell if the hymen has or hasn't been broken. Some women aren't even born with one or it isn't noticeable. The hymen can wear away easily from certain activities such as sports. I don't think I had a hymen (or at least it wasn't noticeable).
