I don't want to diet, but I also want to lose some weight?
So I'm 15 female, 130lb. I don't want to diet because I know food is really important in this time of life because of growing, etc. Obviously I can highly decrease the amount of junk food I eat but I don't want to eat less than I usually do (of normal food).
Back in March, I weighed about 118lb. I used to run about 3-4 times a week and also some moderate exercise. I injured my knee and haven't really been active since, and have obviously gained some weight. Almost all my pants and skirts are tight now with the sides of my thighs especially bigger. My stomach isn't really flat like it used to be but it's not big either. It's like, almost-flat. It doesn't really bother me but I think some ab workouts could help. I don't think I'm overweight, but I just like my old body better. My knee is still healing so I can't run, although I can walk.
I just want to slim my legs and glutes, more than wanting to actually lose weight. To me, the number (130lb) doesn't matter, but my body fat does.
Could walking alone (about one hour a day) help me cut off about 5lb within a few months (since most of my fat is in my legs)? Or do you have any other advice?
I'm not trying to shape my body for others. This is for myself. I am still confident with my body, but if I could cut off some pounds, then why not.
Thanks for any advice!
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoMy mother's breasts itch? Also warm/hot?
Hi, my mother has been complaining about itching from the inside of her breasts for about a week. Her nipple does not itch, just the inside of her breasts. She feels as though her left breast itches more. They started itching at about the same time, and have been itching since. They're both also warm/hot in the inside, but if she touches her breasts they feel normal temperature.
She said she thinks her left breast is a bit bigger, but in my opinion I think she's just over thinking things now since she might be scared it's something like cancer.
Does this seem like something possibly dangerous? I.e. cancer? Or could it be something like allergies?
Should she just visit her dr (better safe than sorry)?
By the way, she's 40.
Thanks for any feedback!
1 AnswerWomen's Health6 years agoWhat mental problem is this?
So my 6 year old cousin has some mental problem. I know what it's called in Arabic (his parents only speak Arabic) but when I tried searching up the translation I got the name of an ethnicity .. so I'm confused.
Here's some features:
-always sticks tongue out
-eyes are odd
-big mouth
-doesn't have veins on palms of hands(or they at least don't show)
-chubby/fat (another person with the same condition is obese. I don't know if that's just a coincidence or it has to do with their condition).
-barely talks. Talks randomly (barely says real words)
-once he hit me on the back of my head with a hard bottle
-hits people for the smallest reasons
-wants to steal people's food
-did not get potty trained until about 4 (I think)
-runs out of the house
-sits in the middle of the street
-really strong
-goes to a school for people of his condition
When he was born, the doctor found out about his condition just by looking at his palms and noticing there were no veins.
I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I'm just curious and want to look up his condition to learn about it. He's a sweet kid and he ran out of his house once and his mom lost him just so he can come to me, lol. (We were neighbors when I visited my home country).
Thanks !
1 AnswerOther - Diseases6 years agoMy mom barely appreciates anything I do?
This has been really bugging me. Let me give you an example.
I did the dishes without even being told. Mom: "Why are the cups so far apart? You know, I should've just done them myself."
I do the dishes another time without being told. Mom: "Why did you put the bowls on the top? If I had just done them myself I would've been better off."
I always tell her stuff like: "If I don't do the dishes, you complain, and if I do the dishes, you complain. What do you want???" Sometimes I tell her that I don't wanna do the dishes anymore since it's not making a difference whether I do them or not, because she's gonna complain and yell either way. She replies: "You purposely screw up the dishes just so that you don't have to do them anymore."
I basically do chores that she doesn't even tell me to do just to be nice and male things easier on her, and instead of a thank you she just starts complaining. That way, she gets her chores done and at the same time wants to make me feel as if I did nothing.
Once she was talking to my aunt on the phone: "She can never do the dishes right. She always puts them in the dishwasher and they're so dirty." I told her to take a picture of the dishes and send them to my aunt and to let my aunt decide if they're dirty or not. Mom: "Well for some reason they're clean today." Yeah, even though the dishes are perfectly clean, she just has to make it look like I did nothing.
I'm about to just stop doing the dishes, either way she's going to complain. Advice?
2 AnswersFamily6 years agoMy mom is controlling my money - I have $450 saved up and she won't even let me spend $60 for a fitbit!?
My mom has always controlled my money. Back in 2012, my mom wouldn't let me buy an ipod touch so that I can use my money to buy jewelry. I don't even like jewelry, but she forced me to waste like $500 on jewelry (gold). She finally let me buy an ipod after I saved up all over again after wasting most of my money on jewelry.
Now, I have $450 saved up. I was going to buy a laptop with all of that money, but my brother fixed my old laptop so I don't want to buy a new one anymore. I decided to buy the fitbit zip, which is about $60. I called my mom while she was at the store and asked her to buy it for me, and that I'd give her my money when she came back. After she saw it and the price, she called me and started saying stuff like "why would you pay $60 for this small thing just because it counts your steps and calories?" "You can't get it" . I called her again, wanting to explain to her that it's my money and it's really useful, and that instead of walking on the treadmill I can walk outside (I usually run on the treadmill but I injured my knees so I can't run for a while). When she answered the phone I'm like "I'm using my money" but then she cut me off and said that she's on another phone line and we'll talk about it later.
I'm sick of her controlling my money. What's money if you can't spend it? Just some cash for display or something? She was okay with me spending all of my money on a laptop but won't let me spend only $60 of my money now?
What are your opinions on this?
3 AnswersFamily6 years agoI drew a mustache on my brother while he was sleeping. Could the makeup I used be toxic for him to breathe?
So I drew a mustache on him as a joke with some eyeliner (my mom has had this eyeliner for years which she never used). I'm scared that since it's right under his nose, he could be inhaling something dangerous. I don't want to cause any current or future problems.
Should I remove it?
What about Crayola washable marker? :P
Thanks :)
4 AnswersMakeup6 years agoWhen I was younger I used to backbite A LOT. Do I have to ask all those people for forgiveness?
Assalamu alikum.
I am 15. When I was around 12 I used to backbite more than you can imagine. That year I befriended two friends who would always gossip, and I later started gossiping with them. We used to gossip about almost everyone. We would gossip about a girl for wearing shorts. We would gossip about this other girl because she brags. We would gossip about another girl who is always trying to be cool. We would gossip about a boy who always tries to be funny. We would gossip about another boy because he flirts.
You get the point. The amount of people we gossiped about is so much.
Even though I knew it was haram, but still did it, I was young. Will I be held accountable by Allah(SWT) for all those people I gossiped about when I was younger but that I regret talking about now?
Now I try my best not to gossip and I tell my friends that I don't like to gossip. I accidentally let something slip every once in a while, and I do ask those people for forgiveness.
But my question, do I have to ask all those people that I gossiped about when I was 12 for forgiveness?
Jazakum Allah(SWT) khair
4 AnswersRamadan6 years agodoesn't the hymen break?
So my culture is strict on this stuff .. like when a man marries a woman, if her hymen is broken then he won't have proof whether she had done pre-marital things or not .. he might divorce her. Sad, but what can I do about it.
So anyways, I heard that the guy would insert his into hers. If blood came (the first time of having sex) then that meant she never broke her hymen before. If not, then the man would become suspicious that she had pre-marital sex.
I know this is not fair since some women break their hymens through injuries and they didn't necessarily have sex to break it, that's if it even breaks.
but my question is, does the hymen even break? Some people say that the hymen starts wearing down as a person gets older, or that some people are born without it etc.
So when you have sex the first time, does something (like the hymen) break?
Thanks
1 AnswerWomen's Health6 years agodo tampons break anything?
So I'm really confused. It's the hymen that gets broken, right? So the tampon is inserted into the vagina but the hymen is untouched?
It's just that my culture is strict about pre-marital relationships etc. So when a man marries a woman and finds out she already broke her hymen he won't know whether she had done pre-marital things before marriage. He might divorce her. It's sad, but yeah, what can I do about it.
So anyways, if I use a tampon, I wanna make sure nothing breaks. I was reading that tampons don't break the hymen, but by accident they could. How does that happen?
Thanks for your answers
1 AnswerWomen's Health6 years agocould you get an infection while swimming specifically because of your period?
So I know you can get an infection anytime. But my mom tells me that when I'm on my period everything is open because the blood is leaving and stuff and so I'm more vulnerable to get an infection. She's never let me swim on my period, ever, maybe only if it's my last day, and she won't let me wear tampons or cups either, so that I don't break my hymen or whatever.
Thanks for your answers
1 AnswerWomen's Health6 years agomy friend always acts like she's all tough? yesterday she kicked my ALREADY INJURED KNEE??
So my friend (15) used to be in karate. Yeah, big deal, right?
Well, whenever we're messing around, she starts saying stuff like "you better watch out, I was in karate!" And I always reply that just because she was in karate that doesn't make her any more tough than I am. I still work out and lift weights.
Yeah, so she always acts all tough just because she was in karate. Um, chill, you're not the only one. I know friends who were in karate and I never even find out until I ask them what sports they've done. As for her, she just brags about it without me even asking her. "So I was in school, and this kid was annoying me, so I threatened him and told him I had a black belt." "Once this kid hit me for fun, so I kicked him and he backed off." He didn't back off because he was scared. But he's not gonna fight a girl.
Yesterday we were at the swimming pool and I pushed her into the water. So you know what she did? She kicked my knee, which I injured a few months ago and is still healing. When she kicked it I screamed. It KILLED. I started swearing under my breath and at her, telling her I've been waiting months for my knee to heal and then she just kicks it. She started apologizing, saying she forgot that my knee is injured. Well, now I'm scared that it got worse and I wanna get an MRI done. And it hurts.
My brother said it's my fault that she's in the position where she does these things, and that I need to let her know not to touch me anymore, even as a joke.
Thoughts?
3 AnswersFriends6 years agowasn't it rude of my friend's mom to say this about me?
(Her mom is also friends with my mom)
So me and my mom were over their house. We were planning swimming and I said I'd be on my period. My mom said I can't swim because I'll get an infection or something. I was explaining to her how that's just a myth and you can't actually get an infection if you swim on your period, says my health teacher and articles online.
This is how my friend's mom replied(she was saying this to my mom): "You know, if your daughter was swimming while on her period, I wouldn't let my kids swim around her."
I replied that my flow will stop anyways and since I'll be wearing pads when I get out my blood won't drip anywhere.
1) She's speaking without knowledge. My blood isn't gonna go everywhere while I'm swimming.
2) She's treating my period as something so gross or whatever, when urine and boys' SWEAT contains more germs. Plus there's chlorine in the water. Maybe I should stop swimming around her teenage son. Maybe she should also not let her kids swim around babies or teenage boys/men.
3) That was rude to begin with it. Just because I'm on my period she doesn't have to treat me like I'm some piece of **** in the pool that she doesn't want her kids getting next to.
3 AnswersWomen's Health6 years agomy mom won't let me swim while on my period?
I'm 15.
my mom and my friend's mom are also friends. So tomorrow, my mom, me, and my brothers are going to the park, and there's a swimming pool there. We're going with my friend, her mom, and my friend's brothers and sisters. So anyways, my mom is friends with her mom, I'm friends with her, our brothers and sisters are friends with each other, etc.
They were over yesterday and her mom told my mom that we should go swimming tuesday, since both our older brothers don't have work tomorrow. I told her I had my period, so she insisted we just don't go to the swimming pool, but our older brothers should. I felt bad and I told everyone that they can swim and I don't care, I'll just stay at home. My friend rejected and said she doesn't wanna swim alone, so we'll just not swim. Our moms believe that it's dangerous to swim on periods. I told my mom it's perfectly safe, and our health teacher taught us, I read articles online etc. I told her to even call my doctor and ask him. She started saying, "well still, it's disgusting", and I'm like, well when you're swimming your flow stops or becomes really light, so there's no blood to be disgusted of. (I can't wear a tampon or cup, I'm not allowed to open my hymen). She then said to just stop the conversation and that I'm not swimming if I'm on my period.
Is there anything I can do or say to convince her?
Even with facts she's resisting, but instead decides to stick to the fake tales she learned while growing up.
Thanks
3 AnswersWomen's Health6 years agomy mom picks up my friend on time, but my friend's mom is always hours late for me? she's also hours late when we invite her over?
I don't know why our moms do it like this, but:
When my friend wants to come over my mom picks her up.
When I want to go over her house her mom picks me up.
(Our moms are also friends)
My mom tells me something like, tell your friend that I'll be there 4:30. So my mom leaves the house at like 4:15, and picks her up on time.
However, my friend texts me telling me that her mom is gonna be here at 4:30. So I start getting ready at like 4:15. Then it's 4:45, so I text my friend and she tells me her mom needs half an hour. It kinda gets me mad, but I'm like ok at least she'll be here 5:15. Do you know what time she ends up picking me up? 6. Are you kidding me. She does this all the time.
A few times we've invited her and her kids for lunch (her husband and my dad would be at work). She says "I'll be there 3" You know what time she comes? Like 5. Kinda rude.
It's gotten to the point where I'm used to it. My mom's like, set the table, they'll be here in half an hour. "Don't worry, mom, they probably won't be here for another hour" Aaaand I'm always right.
I know you might say that at least she's picking me up, and that I shouldn't be complaining, but my mom always picks up her daughter, too, and she's usually on time, if not 5-10 minutes late.
I really don't know what to do about this, she does this all the time and it angers me.
2 AnswersFriends6 years agored lines on my inner thighs and all over my but cheeks?
(I'm a female, 15)
(Not pregnant)
(Never been pregnant)
So I was looking it up online and apparently it has something to do with growing fast or gaining weight. Before I injured my knees, I would run about 4 times a week, I ate like an average person. I was like 5'4 and 118 lb. After 5 months, and my kneels are still healing, I have not ran or exercised at all. I've noticed the inner thigh marks for about a month to two months now (I see them everytime I use the bathroom) but today I turned around and looked at the bathroom mirror and there are A LOT of marks all over my butt cheeks, and the sides of my butt, lower butt, etc. I can even feel some of them. I showed my mom them (I was wearing an underwear) and she got scared and said she wanted to take me to the doctor, something about veins.
I am now 130 lbs. I gained 18 lbs over a period of 5 months because I haven't been working out.
Should I be concerned or do you think they are just stretch marks? These marks are in areas no one's really gonna see (I swim with shorts anyways, bikinis make me uncomfortable), so I don't care that much if they're just stretch marks, although I wouldn't mind treating them to make them show less.
Thank you in advance x

3 AnswersAir Travel6 years agomy dad barely beats us up, but when he does, he goes overboard?
So my little brother is 6. He's really spoiled, and barely listens. So today my dad told him to increase the volume on the TV (the remote isn't working) and he's like "no." So my dad smacked him on his foot and demanded he raise the volume. So then he raised the volume, and then ran to another room and started crying. So like 5 or 10 minutes later, my dad goes to him, drags him back to the living room, and then starts beating him up. I think my mom was on a different floor (I was sleeping this whole time) and he ran up to her and cried in her arms. My mom got mad obviously.
Don't you think that was completely unnecessary? I mean he smacked him that first time on his foot(even though I don't believe in hitting at all). But then after 5 or 10 minutes he suddenly decides to go hit him? He claims that he waited so that he could calm his anger instead of beating him while he was angry because it would've been worse. How about you calm your anger and go talk to him about what he did?? He's SIX. How much anger could he even cause you for you to beat him up?
He only hits me like probably once or twice a year, but last year he pushed me so I was crying to my mom and then she got mad at him, so then he starts beating me nonstop and attempted to drop the couch on me while I was on the floor just because I told my mom and she got mad. Well that just made it worse and they got into a days long fight.
When my mom hits sometimes, it's a few slaps. But he goes waayyy overboard.
Opinions?
4 AnswersFamily6 years agodoes the private part of men get longer as they grow?
So I help my little brother when he uses the bathroom. So I wipe his genital after he pees. So obviously i have to look at it. No I don't look at it or stare at it on purpose, but I'm obviously gonna see it since I take him to the bathroom.
But it's so short! I always see stuff on the Internet(not intentionally) regarding how long men's genitals are etc. And I was just wondering, do genitals get longer from childhood go adulthood? Or are some people's genitals really that short?
Again, please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not purposely staring at my brother's genitals. It was just a thought I decided to ask about.. thanks
4 AnswersMen's Health6 years agomy mom says laser hair removal for men on the chest is only for gays?
I am not looking for comments about the gay vs nongay issue.
I've always told my brother(he's 17) how I don't like chest hair even on men. It's just that he wears tanks at home so they show and I ask him what he thinks of shaving them and he always disagrees.
So today he was showing my mom his abs (she touched his stomach and asked why it was hard so he showed her) and I brought up the chest hair thing.
"I'm like I don't like these hairs and I think you should shave them" My mom's like "what?? You don't like them?" And I'm like "you like them?? Are you serious??"and she's like "yeah, and men who have chest hair are usually proud of their chest hair and show them off with unbuttoning the top buttons of shirts" and I'm like "well some men are starting to remove them through laser hair removal." And then she said "the only people who remove them are gay"
So this isn't about whether gay is wrong or right, etc. I'm just wondering, in your opinion, especially (you) men, do you think removing the chest hairs is for gay people?
7 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender6 years agomy mom won't let me wear tampons or even ride a bike!?
My culture is big on women with ripped hymens. Men usually only marry a woman if she's never had sex before marriage.
Accidents happen on bikes where the hymen is broken, and tampons, I believe, also break it. Apparently, if her hymen is broken, the guy who wants to marry her will not know whether she had pre-marital sex or not, and so he just won't marry her, and neither will another guy marry her.
I understand my mom's reasoning but why does my culture have to be like this? Are people not educated on the fact that some women purposely or accidenty break their hymens and not through sex? So if a girl slips and breaks her hymen she will not get married because people will have no proof if she had pre marital sex or not? It's disgusting in my culture how if a girl is raped, aside from dealing with the mental impact that getting raped had on her and even the physical impacts, to make matters worse she now also has to worry if anyone will ever marry her. This is what she gets for getting raped? Even more issues to depress her?
This really annoys me. I've always wanted to ride a bike, and just wear a tampon. My flow is heavy and sometimes I have to wear two pads, and it's annoying. I can't wear leggings either since the (two) pads show through. Not to mention how the blood gets everywhere.. And for others it's even worse, like with the rape thing.
There's nothing to really improve my situation, since i understand my culture and its ignorance, but anyone have opinions on this?
