My mom is controlling my money - I have $450 saved up and she won't even let me spend $60 for a fitbit!?
My mom has always controlled my money. Back in 2012, my mom wouldn't let me buy an ipod touch so that I can use my money to buy jewelry. I don't even like jewelry, but she forced me to waste like $500 on jewelry (gold). She finally let me buy an ipod after I saved up all over again after wasting most of my money on jewelry.
Now, I have $450 saved up. I was going to buy a laptop with all of that money, but my brother fixed my old laptop so I don't want to buy a new one anymore. I decided to buy the fitbit zip, which is about $60. I called my mom while she was at the store and asked her to buy it for me, and that I'd give her my money when she came back. After she saw it and the price, she called me and started saying stuff like "why would you pay $60 for this small thing just because it counts your steps and calories?" "You can't get it" . I called her again, wanting to explain to her that it's my money and it's really useful, and that instead of walking on the treadmill I can walk outside (I usually run on the treadmill but I injured my knees so I can't run for a while). When she answered the phone I'm like "I'm using my money" but then she cut me off and said that she's on another phone line and we'll talk about it later.
I'm sick of her controlling my money. What's money if you can't spend it? Just some cash for display or something? She was okay with me spending all of my money on a laptop but won't let me spend only $60 of my money now?

You have access to the internet. You should establish a source of income that she cannot control. Learn to show your mom you are responsible. But your time could better be spent figuring out how to make the $60 in your free time. Your mom will likely be a lot more inclined to trust that you will use your money wisely, and you will have the $60 to get what you want.
