Why don't people believe in God?

This question isn't trying to imply that individuals should believe in God..I just wish to know why people don't and I refuse to believe in God the way I'm taught about "it" in my RE classes xD .. I just believe God is the reason we're here..Not in that way but literally the definition of "God " is "the reason we're here"and people have made it all complex saying "he" is a long bearded white man bla bla who made us in 7 days .Im not saying that is completely false because just because us humans aren't extremely intellectual doesn't mean something extra intellectual put us here ;It seems unrealistic to think that we wouldn't have a purpose considering there are about 8billion of us and I'm only 13 so it's really perplexing to think of :/ I feel like if the Big Bang theory etc is the reason we're here then that is God ...If that makes sense?

I know it may be hard to understand for someone for whom the existence of god is a given, but I simply don't believe in any god because I have no reason to. To me it's not unrealistic at all that 8 billion people could exist without purpose, or at least without a specific purpose dreamed up by one or more supernatural beings.

I see the wonder in reality, I understand the awe you experience when contemplating it all. I experience the same thing. I just don't see any reason to see 'god' in that.

Something about what you said about the Big Bang being god made me think about pantheism. Have you ever heard of it? Pantheists don't believe in a personal god (the long bearded white man, or one of the many other ideas about personal gods) but instead basically believe that reality equals divinity. A pantheist would readily agree with you that the Big Bang is god, as well as everything else there is.

The fact that you can't wrap your head around scientific explanations is not evidence for a god. As you get older you'll be able to understand more and shed some of the assumptions that are common in children.

You've probably been raised to assume that the only possible purpose of human life is to serve a god. Open your mind and see how that's a very narrow view imposed by religious leaders.

Its a silly idea that makes no sense. Really, just think about it. How could it be possible for that whole story to be real. It's against nature and common knowledge and punishes you for not believing! Cause the only way to get you to believe is through fear and once you fear they got the carrot Jesus, really. From what I know of reality (me, what I know) things don't work that way. The bigbang theory has none of the components or ideas that people atribute to God. Certainly not a all loving magical being that created and judges us.

The only way primitive religion exists today is through the child abuse of forcing it into very, very young children but thanks to better education and growing intellects so many teens are able to discover the truth, throw off the indoctrination and step into the real world!

Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking.

They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!

Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!

Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely.

Sadly Christians, Muslims and others are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!

I'm 46 and I've never seen any convincing evidence of any supernatural creatures. Hope that helps.

So you redefined "God", still capitalizing it, and wonder why everyone does not believe in it. There are even more cockroaches in the world, is it perplexing to thing they don't have purpose as well?

"Why don't people believe in God?"

Because they're not superstitious cowardly morons.

"I just believe God is the reason we're here"

If you have to "believe" in something you can be certain it's bullsh!t.

The reason we are here is evolution by natural selection. This is called "reality". Your magical god is called "fantasy". Throwing out moronic fantasies is a big part of growing up. The god-soaked are too dense and too cowardly to grow up.

Because it's illogical to believe in something so big that nobody has ever seen, heard, felt or smelt.

In my long life I’ve never, ever, seen, heard, felt, thought, sensed, or been told anything whatsoever to make me think that a god exists.

And even if I had, I wouldn’t waste my time or energy worshiping the jealous, insecure, vengeful, narcissistic, impotent, violent, unfair, selfish, indecisive, capricious god described in the bible.

They choose not to because they wish to do what they want instead of having someone in authority over their actions.
