Ways being late could ruin a life? (for a video game)?

I'm creating a video game, and the antagonist is a character that dresses and acts like the white rabbit in Alice in wonderland. Since he's an antagonist, I need a reason for him to be bad. So I was wondering, how could being late to something cause someone to spiral down to the point of villainy? I've hit a blank, so any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you ever see the Bruce TImm animated Batman series? The incarnation of the Clock King in the series became a villain after he was late for a court hearing. He was the kind of guy who did everything on a schedule and he was uptight about it. On the advice of the Mayor who rode the subway with him he changed his routine to "relax" before his court hearing -- and everything went wrong after that. He blamed the Mayor for ruining his life, turned into a villain, and the rest is history.

Maybe he is a perfectionist and likes to be on time and perfect. But the. One day he leaves the house late and he gets into a car accident which takes the other persons life. He feels guilt and thinks because he wasn't doing things on time it was his fault and slowly goes down "the rabbit hole" and he constantly taunts himself with the thought driving him to insanity

Maybe he was late to go meet his wife when she goes into labor, she dies while in labor with the baby. Overtaken by guilt and regret, spirals into whatever crazy guy he becomes. Adds character to the antagonist to make the player feel conflicted.
