Sitting for extended time frames does create certain risks. Circulation issues can occur. People in wheel chairs are taught HOW to avoid these issues. Their chairs are also usually designed to reduce these issues. Sitting in positions that cause pinched nerves or obstructed blood flow is the main issue. If you ever get the feeling that your feet or you butt is "going to sleep", you know....that pins and needles feeling, then you are sitting wrong and need to stand up and get circulation going again. In a "worse case" situation, you can sit long enough to cause a blood clot in the legs and then when you get up, the blood clot moves to either the heart, the lungs, or the brain and depending on how big it is and where it goes, you could have a major problem because of that. But most people don't sit long enough to cause those types of problems.
Now, long term, you can create health issues by not being active. This could cause you to die at an earlier age.....you know.......like at 65 instead of 75 for example.

Yes. If you sit for too long like 2 days.

it really depends how long you sit for. If you don't move for several days straight then yes. there is a story about a guy who played call of duty for 2 days straight, then when he finally stood up he died because a blood clot had formed in his leg and traveled to his heart. so yes it is possible. you would have to stay in the same position unmoing for several days though, and as the body tends to get uncomfortable and move around periodically when you're sitting I would say it's very unlikely to happen.

Sitting around all the time isn't good for you. Try to get some exercise and fresh air. And you know, maybe some new friends.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

Tell that to a person who is in a wheel chair. I'd love to see what they say to that. Tell your friend to ask the question.
