When registering a car in Ohio, is proof of insurance required?

    When registering in person, it is requested. When registering online, you acknowledge that you have insurance. If you don't you can be found guilty of perjury, which is a third degree felony, involving dishonesty, which may carry more than a year in jail + 1500 in fines, if caught. It may impact your ability to work, in many jobs. Driving without insurance has similar fines and penalties.
