Should I make fences with the felled pines, or firewood?

I have 5 dead pines in my back yard. Already felled them. I'm thinking using some of the wood for fence, like those rural wood fence with 2/3 cross bars. Will that deter deer that come over and eat my trees and everything else? Or should I just turn the pines into firewood?

Also, one dead pine has termites in it. What should I do with that tree? Spray it with poison? But I have a well in the back, and I plan on making the cleared space as a vegetable garden or something similar. Any input will be appreciated!

Update:

They died due to some kind of moth in my area. Maryland, many of the pines died in this area. I have cut them into 8 ft segments and checked most of them, only that one tree has a few termites on it.

Like Ben Gazzi said, you need a really good fence to keep deer out. The wood could be useful for this, but 2m high chainlink with barbed wire would be a good component of the fence too. There's plenty of other uses for pinewood, it's nice and straight although it rots pretty fast in the ground or if damp.

I live in an area with a lot of pine, and it is also dying from disease. IMO it is irresponsible not to use it for firewood where I am, because the slower growing hardwood trees are more scarce. Sure it's not the best wood, and you will have to clean your chimney, regularly, so I prefer to save the more valuable hardwood for the really cold times. In summer I cook outside on a stove or sometimes I boil a cauldron for preserving food over an open fire. Pinewood is always my first choice for these occasions.

As regards the termites, they are social insects which means only the queen breeds. Chop up the wood with a chainsaw, and you will soon see which bit has the main termite nest in it. Chances are most of the log will be fine for burning, the bit with the main nest in you can chuck or burn on a bonfire. Stack the wood outside and any stray termites will soon depart.

I have never seen so many responses from people that know so little about what they are talking about. I am 63 and live in Maine. I have cut, split, seasoned, stacked and burned wood all my life. Creosote build up in stoves or chimneys comes from one place only that that is WET WOOD. You can get it from wet oak just as well as wet pine. The only problem with pine as well as spruce, willow, fir, balsam, cedar, larch, tamarack, etc, is that it burns too quickly. This is the only reason I tend to stay with hardwoods. Softwood such as pine would never last through the night. I would have no problem using dry pine during the day, but would probably do a mix of soft and hardwood. Just make sure that it is dry which means below 20% moisture content.

It would be nice to find a use for the wood but since one has termites it's very likely the others do too - that's probably why they died - so imo better to truck it all away to a landfill or if you have the space, burn it all outside. Too bad but you don't want to be introducing termites inside your house in firewood.

Fences, Pine is not good to burn even if dry creates to much creosote an does not burn long or hot..Spray the infected pine.

burn it all, but don't bring it into the house until your ready to burn it. ive hunted dear before that literally walked up to an 8' fence and came to a dead stop, then leaped over it and cleared it by 2 '. so, good luck with the fence to deter the deer idea!! Colorado mule deer
