Why do religious people think atheists have no morals when then simply choose to not believe in fairy tales?

I don't think that at all. Morals can come from a society, and so people brought up in that society, will have those morals. Beheading people, for example, is not seen as a bad thing in some Asian countries. So, morally, it is okay to do so, if it is an enemy that is being beheaded. But we would see that as immoral.

The point is, Atheists get their morals from where they live and by whom raises them. Their environment, and those who teach them things.

Religious people on the other hand, get their morals MORE from their religious teachings, and not so much from the society they live in. Therefore, their morals are MORE standardized, world wide. What Christians believe in America is very similar to what they believe in Europe, with some dissimilarities. Society plays a tiny part in their morals. Kill someone by beheading them, in America or Canada or France, it does not matter, the morals are the same, because the religion states it as not being moral, to behead someone.

I know Atheists do have morals, it is just that these morals differ, from place to place, to some degree. Atheists born and raised in Muslim countries might see beheading as okay also. I don't know, just saying. It is NOT standardized, as such.

Your question is vague. Perhaps you mean why do religious people think atheists have no morals when they simply choose to not believe in fairy tales? fact of the matter Christianity isn't a fairy tale. prophesies have been fulfilled, people don't believe in the Bible just to believe in it. I search God in the Spirit, I have a spiritual connection with God.

Most religious people don't think that at all. In the REAL world Theists and Atheists get along. The internet brings out both atheist extremists and religious extremists. Extremists on the internet have nothing better to do with their lives than argue

It's just another claim they like to make with no real basis in reality...

They have a lot of them... LOL

Basing their claims on actual evidence is not a big thing in their world or, indeed, an imperative at all. Just the claim and 'belief' is sufficient and why look any farther or listen to anything else. You see that mentality here all the time...

    IMHO

Well said. It is both propaganda from preachers (who have a vested interest in maintaining their positions by promoting a feeling of superiority amongst fellow believers) and self delusion. In fact, atheists do most of the heavy lifting in improving society through science and non-religious education

Most people have no education in philosophy or morality and are merely accepting what their religion claims is "moral"... But they treat religion like a software agreement -- scroll to the bottom, click "I agree" and get on with their life.

Most people will do everything in their power to avoid critical thinking.

Because that is what their parents told them. And they believed the fairytale, why not believe the idea that not believing in gods means you will rape, murder, abuse, etc.

Isn't it interesting that 40% of Americans and Brits believe in no personal god..... yet, in the US 98 % of inmates in prisons for violent crimes are believers...either Christian, or Muslim... Hmmmmmmmmm who has a lack of morals here?

Because many religious people think religion is required to have morals; it isn't.

I'm religious and don't feel that way. Sounds like you're as prejudiced and accepting stereotypes the people don't like.

That is their way to put themselves and their ideology up on a pedestal. A lot of people have a superiority complex and those people are usually drawn to religion.
