China gives amnesty to thousands of low risk prisoners on 70th anniversary of WW2 victory. Why doesn't USA do this?

China is only doing this for show. Whenever there's to be a summit between China and the USA the Chinese ALWAYS release prisoners as a sign that China "cares" about human rights. It's a cynical PR stunt, and one we've seen before.

The USA doesn't have any prisoners from world war 2 so they already have

We've got thousands of crooks on the street already awaiting trial or not yet caught. Why would we release more known criminals back on society?

The US does not need any special occasion to release prisoners. Obama does it all the time, releasing thousands of criminal illegal aliens, many far from low risk.

California is doing it for a few hundred thousand "low risk" prisoners. And the crime rate is going up accordingly.

Because China is an independent, sovereign nation that can make its own decisions.

The United States is also an independent, sovereign nation that can make its own decisions.
