I rescued a bird from drowning and now it won't leave my room?

I was swimming in my pool and I kept hearing flapping so I went to look and there was a bird (most likely a sparrow) holding on to rocks. I took it out of the water and put him in a box surrounded by towels.

That was about an hour and half ago and now it can fly again but it refuses to leave my room.

What can I do?

Lucky for you, European sparrows are invasive and unprotected, so you can choose to do whatever you like with it if you confirm its species ;) I suggest opening a window so it can fly out. If it wont do that, gently towel it (exactly what it sounds like) and carry it outside.

You could keep this bird and his buddies around by setting up a hopper, tube or tray feeder outside and filling it with a blend of black oil sunflower and white millet.
