I don't know if he was getting ready to cry or what? Advice?

So I've liked this guy for 2 years and its been a rollercoaster with him. He talks about me badly behind my back. Then he goes and stares at me. He will stare and smile. But in 11th grade (last year) he told my friend that he thought I was really cute and then she overheard him say to his friend and he stuttered when he said this he said "I-I really like her." Then this year he's acting different and I mean so far this year he will only look at me when his friends aren't looking or when he's alone. He looks down when he walks past me. But he looks down even when I'm not around. But last Tuesday I went up to him and decided to talk to him and I tried to talk to him I said "Why do you stare at me?" And he yelled at me and screamed "I DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!" Then the same week on Friday we had a pep rally and hes a football player and im in the band and we did the national anthem and he was standing and i looked up at him and he was staring and I looked down and i was shaking my head and looking like i was gonna cry and I looked back up at him and he looked like he was getting ready to cry. His face was scrunched up and his eyebrows were a certain way. I'm not sure if he was getting ready to cry or if he was glaring. If he was getting ready to cry, why? Like what does it mean? They say a guy that cries over a girl loves her. But we've never even dated. Advice? Thank you!!
