Math question! WILL PICK BEST ANSWER?

There are 40 applicants for a certain job. All applicants had to take a math examination and a verbal examination. If 32 applicants passed the math exam, 35 passed the verbal, and 30 passed both, how many applicants FAILED both the math and the verbal? Please explain exactly how you found the answer! WILL PICK BEST ANSWER

    30 passed both (subtract 30 from 32 and 30 from 35)

    you'll get 7, if you add the 2 and the 5 together

    40 total applicants, so 40 - 7 = 3

    Make a venn diagram. Subtract to get pass math only and pass verbal only. Do 1- math only+verbal only
