If the Theory of Evolution is real, doesn't that mean God isn't?
First of all, let me just say, I COMPLETELY LOVE GOD. But I was thinking, the theory of evolution says we evolved from monkeys, etc. Now, I don't get to go to church often so please correct me if I'm wrong, but that would mean God didn't create Adam and Eve. I was watching a fact video today, and one was, "All scientific theories have actually been proven true, including theory of evolution." And that freaked me out! I've always thought about how in this case it's either Science or Religion, but knowing it was true kind of scared me. Please tell me what you think!

Yes, the theory of evolution explains
how we did not all come from
a pair of created humans,
a few thousand years ago.
We are clearly part
of a much larger family,
that includes all life on Earth,
that has been producing new species
for billions of years.
Of course, evolution does not prove
that there cannot be some creator god,
who set up the universe
so that it would evolve life,
but only that the story of creation
in the Book of Genesis
is just a mythological tale.

If the Theory of Evolution is real, doesn't that mean God isn't?
- One has nothing to do with the other, except to mental midgets.
the theory of evolution says we evolved from monkeys,
- WOW, the ignorant fundie raises its ignorant head. Evolution does not say that, try reading something intelligent.
but that would mean God didn't create Adam and Eve.
- Nope, he didn't. The Annunaki did 230,000 years ago.
"All scientific theories have actually been proven true, including theory of evolution."
- If it is a "scientific theory", it explains a series of "proven facts", so yes, all scientific theories have been proven. Evolution is more proven than even gravity and electricity.
I've always thought about how in this case it's either Science or Religion,
- Try actual thinking and you will discover that one has nothing to do with the other and they can both exist comfortably, unless you believe any of the "holy books" that are all proven fantasies.

Ask any medical professional. Yes, it's real.
Some Xians TRY to say that the creation storIES (there are two-Gen 1 & Gen 2) fit, but no they don't. Even if you 'understand' the time-line as being a metaphorical allegory, the order things were created doesn't fit with what the evidence shows.
But part of being an Xian is denial in order to maintain 'faith'.

Evolution for centuries has been the greatest threat to religion and is denied by theists without justification or rationale.
Evolution as a principle exposes the creation stories of all religions as myths.
For example, it invalidates Christian fundamentalism by eliminating Adam and Eve and original sin.
It invalidates the need for baptism to wash away a sin that never existed.
It invalidates the need to worship a man that died via crucifixion for what is now considered an imaginary transgression (original sin that didn't exist)...
Islamic tradition derives from Judaism and Christian texts and all three collapse from the basic scientific principles of Evolution. This is not to say necessarily that there is no god. But science certainly invalidates the teachings of any religion that relies on creationism as a cornerstone.
Does this qualify as a revelation?

No, strictly speaking, "evolution being real" does NOT mean that God doesn't exist. It only means that the literal interpretation of Genesis as a scientific text by a tiny minority of fundamentalist Christians--mostly in the U.S--is stupid-wrong.

Only if one insists *without* clear support from the scripture that the 'days' of creation must have been consecutive.
But that scripture does not specify that.
From the wording, we know there were six 'days', but we do *not* know only from that wording whether or not those 'days' had time between them.....
It's equally scriptural to see the days as being distinct days separated by unknown amounts of time between them.
This seems even more sensible if we think of *how* Genesis chapter one was conveyed....
We have no reason to think Geneses 1 did not come through an inspired Vision (to an individual). (a series of scenes, just like in Revelation)
If the scripture did not come from an inspired Vision, then....how did it come?
We know that God used Visions to convey parts of the Bible to individuals.
------
(footnote: one of the qualities of a Vision is that the recipient usually does not fully understand what they see, but can only convey it as best they can with words they can think of....)

For the gazillionth time, evolution says nothing of humans evolving from monkeys. We share a common ancestor. And a scientific theory is fact to the extent that anything is fact. A theory in science means that all available evidence supports the models presented by the theory.

The scientific theory of evolution is very much real, and has much evidence to support it. Evolution itself happens and is a fact. The scientific theory of evolution is a model to explain how evolution works.
The creation accounts of Adam and Eve as described by the bible are not factual, given what evolution has shown. We were not made of mud/clay/dirt or ribs.

That's a bit like asking " If I like Marmite, doesn't that mean God isn't real?
Well evolution IS real, I LOVE Marmite and "God" is a figment of your crazed imagination!
