Does anyone know the word for THE IDEA that all physical things wear out? It begins with an A and is not attrition and I have forgotten it.?

Update:

Not atrophy or entropy. It is a very uncommon word. Specifically for the idea that all material things physically decay over time, and it does begin with an "A".

Are you meaning entropy? It means 'mother nature's tendency toward randomness'. It sort of means that once an item is left alone, it decays and mother nature reclaims it.

    Hope I helped.

You're probably thinking of entropy. It starts with an "e", but it makes the most sense for what you are asking.

Atrophy.Entropy is not the correct word.
