Why can't politically correct people acknowledge that being fat is bad?
So, I've been noticing a trend lately in pop culture, that has flooded into mainstream opinion. Saying that being overweight is bad, is now seen as offensive. Why though? by its very definition, being overweight is bad. Now, I'm not saying that I think you're a bad person if you're fat, but I think there's something wrong with the fact that you have to say it's ok to be fat now. Coming from someone who used to be obese, this movement honestly makes my accomplishment feel marginalized. Why should we be embracing fatness? Seriously, in the same thread of thought, shouldn't we be embracing alcoholism and drug addiction to then?
My other big issue with the whole movement is that it has now turned from embracing your figure, no matter what, to saying people that are skinny are shallow. So someone who tries and cares about their health and appearance is now a shallow a**hole?
Ok, so here's what I mean, there's these campaigns about how "all bodies are beautiful" etc. It's an unhealthy sentiment. Continually embracing fat culture leads to acceptance of unhealthy lifestyle choices. Why is this seen as ok when it comes to obesity, but no other addictions (because food addiction is a very real thing)? Why isn't alcoholism emmbraced. Most alcoholics have a genetic predisposition to it, so why can't that be seen as a legitimate excuse for them?

More people worldwide are becoming obese now, so because it's getting closer to being the norm it's pc to regard being overweight as okay.
Rather than either picking on overweight people or saying it's okay to be fat I think we should be doing more to encourage good eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.
If I could, the number one thing I would do is ban all advertising of junk or processed food, the same way we ban the advertising of cigarettes here.
Btw congratulations on achieving your weight loss goals, I think it's awesome you stuck with it and succeeded.

I'm pretty sure overweight people know that being obese is bad. They just don't want rude comments about them. You're not telling them anything new.
I agree. I'm not on the whole fat acceptance bandwagon.
We should promote healthy eating instead of shaming people or accepting fat.

It's funny because Donald Trump is the least politically correct candidate running for president and he's fat.. as are a LOT of Republican men.

The same reason they get mad when people condemn the act of homo"sexuality" even though homo"sexuality" is harmful for the public and themselves. They think with emotion, not logic.
