To meet the British Standard, each number
plate must be permanently and legibly marked with the
following information. -
- The British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d)
- The name, trademark or other way of identifying
the manufacturer or supplier
- The name and postcode of the supplying outlet

The dealer information is not on the plate, but on the frame AROUND the plate. With a simple tool - screwdriver, you can remove the plate and frame, and reinstall the plate without the frame - within 10 minutes, you've solved the problem.

In the UK you simply take your vehicle registration documents to a motoring shop and they'll do new plates for you. Costs around £20 for the pair - less if you don't want a nice Welsh dragon emblem.
