Can you guess why it's been around in America for over a hundred years?
It's because the "western genre" is an American genre. It's always been here. The west is a tremendous part of American heritage, and, as such, it represents a large part of who we are as a people. So even if you don't like cowboys or horses or country music or even sheriff/bandit shootouts, you can see how the concepts of exploring the unknown, striking out for new territories, settling the natural evil, surviving in hazardous new lands, building up townships and civilizations against all odds and in treacherous environs, having an inherent strength that comes from your love of family, your faith in goodness of others, and a willingness to die for your beliefs by facing greater odds than humanly possible (and yet succeeding against obstacles in the end) - this is all western genre mixed with western philosophy of freedom, adventure, and all sorts of themes that define the American culture and the American historical heritage. As such, they appear in all sorts of other genres in American movies, and maybe you appreciate them better when the setting is sci-fi or urban or maybe a love story or a farce. But westerns are the most blunt, most classical and most representative styles of thematic storytelling pertinent to many cores of past and modern American culture, history and heritage, as well as the characteristics of many of America's individual citizens.

Western Genre is usually popular (well not anymore though) here, considering the history how the Old West was built and how it differed from the ones in the East Coast not to mention how it was romanticized here similar to how Europeans romanticized the Medieval Times.

I assume you mean Western movies/TV shows. There certainly has been a lot of romanticizing of the hard life early settlers went through as the West was settled, but we do admire the tough determination that it took to do it. It also hearkens back to a time when the government didn't control every little aspect of your life.

American westerns have been very popular world wide. Louis L'Amour sold more books outside the United States than inside. .

Not so much anymore, it has been years since I've seen a western. Comic book superheroes are in now.

You mean Cowboy movies? I hate cowboy movies, and I find cowboys kind of gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Country music sucks too by the way.

It helps them pretend they aren't the beneficiaries of centuries of genocide.
