How come the signs "gun free zone" and "no guns allowed" did not stop the shooting?

Have you noticed that almost all of these mass shootings happen in "gun free zones"? Perhaps the main reason is that the shooters knew they wouldn't be stopped by someone else with a gun, and they were free to do whatever they wanted. Maybe if we had fewer "gun free" zones, there would be fewer mass shootings.

The purpose of a "gun free zone" sign is NOT to prevent guns, it is to suspend the validity of mandatory Federal Maximum Sentencing guidelines in the event the shooter is caught. Without the sign, by Statute the gunman faces a MAXIMUM of seven years in prison....but IF such a sign is present, the Court can impose a longer sentence (or even a Death sentence)....

As a (legal) immigrant here, it truly astonishes me how many Americans obviously have NO IDEA how the US Federal Law system actually works!

Let's blame the victims because they were in an area they thought was safe. It's not the shooter's fault...it's the victim's fault for being in a "gun free zone".

Oh, and BTW, it was NOT a "gun free zone". A 2011, Oregon state court decision prohibited public colleges from banning guns on campus.

Obama and the liberals say that if we make all of the US into a "Gun Free Zone", THAT will stop all the senseless murderers.

This is common sense; it isn't rocket surgery. Only law abiding citizens will follow the rules banning guns. Criminals who want to shoot up schools aren't gonna go "Oh gosh, I didn't realize this was a gun-free zone! How embarrassing! I'll just go now."

There are no such signs on the Oregon campus. In fact, students regularly brought hunting rifles, etc. to school, usually in their cars. But note that the presence of guns is never going to stop a deranged shooter who wants to die anyway.

Criminals don't follow laws or policies and get their hands on guns through the black market, that's why qualified people in the U.S. needs guns to deal with people like this, otherwise he would have killed even more people than he did.
