Math problem: how to evaluate (12 4), but 12 and 4 are in a 2x1 matrix?

The problem just says "Evalute" then gives this 2x1 kind of a matrix notation. The 12 and 4 are written vertically within the parentheses kind of like this.

12

( )

4

but the parentheses are larger, with the numbers inside. How to evaluate this?

A constant matrix is already evaluated. There is nothing you need to do, unless some operation is indicated. Your problem description does not mention any other matrix or matrix operation.

That is shorthand for "Combination 12, 4", which you might have seen written as 12C4 or C(12,4). It is:

    12! / (8! x 4!)

    where 4! = 1x2x3x4, etc
