what are characteristics of love avoiders?

They never say anything for certain. Or there is always a double meaning to what they say. Ex I love you could mean I love you as a friend

As someone who dated a love avoider for 5 years, they are a moving target. You both agree to a certain goal and once at that goal, they change it because of circumstances. Initially they shower you with compliments and gifts. They allow you to feel deeply loved, sending texts every morning ("good morning sweetheart"), during the day ("I miss you") and in the evening ("goodnight my queen"). As you become more trusting of the love avoider, they become more distant. They play with your emotions and it feels like you are on a roller coaster. One minute things are perfect and you agree to move a 1000 miles away to be with them (at their request). As the moving date gets closer, they break up and throw your emotions and heart under the bus to be smashed into hundreds of pieces. Then they go on to the next victim.
