can a person be a true follower of Christ without reading the bible?

Some people have had true spiritual experiences happen to them before they actually read the Bible, and became Christ followers. However, they soon started reading the Bible afterward. I don't think you can sustain a relationship with Christ if you never read the Bible. There always the audio option for people with eye problems or dyslexia. YouTube has the Bible in audio form.

No. I think of the Bible as a letter from a friend. If you want to know about someone would you not talk to them or read their letters? How can you hope to truly believe in something / someone that you don't take time to learn about? Also the Bible has been called the guide book to a Christians life - the teachings, commands and guidance are still as needed today as they were thousands of years ago

Jesus himself indicates we can't follow Christ unless we know his teachings but that having been said, knowing his teachings is a pleasure. Simple truths like treating others as we would like to be treated brings about the best results possible, and the happiest life possible.

In the scriptures at John 8:31,32 Jesus plainly states: "“If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” So 'to remain in his word' means we have to know them and as stated above, we can only benefit others ands ourselves if we do know them.

Read Matthew 28:18-20 and see that Christ commands we teach, baptize (for the removal of sins) and then teach more. To teach more means there are things they do not know even though they have been saved through baptism. Growth happens after birth, you know.
