How do you get windows back on a computer when you have linux on it?
Ok, my friend did something to a laptop he bought and said if i can fix it i can have it. He gave it to me and it was on the mother board. He bought the computer with windows 7 on it. I tested it to see if it was ok and everything was in working order. So he told me he could give me the windows reset disk for the laptop the next week. I decided to put linux ubuntu on it to see if it would work. It told me i would have to get rid of windows on the computer to put linux on it. My brother who is a senior in highschool told me i could get it back if i had the windows reset disk. So i put linux on it. It worked fine on linux but he gave me the reset disk for windows and now i cant get it back onto the computer. Can you tell me how to get it back on the computer if its even possible. Thank you.

Probably??? just maybe....since you are running Ubuntu.....the computer does not recognize the windows disc.
If you are sure you want windows???.....then boot back up on the Ubuntu disc- that is- put the linux cd back in the drive and boot up on it. When given the option to install or try- select try. Once its complete boots up and is running Ubuntu- open disk utility- select hard drive- delete it, (yes- delete the main partition on the hard drive), then format it to nfts. Once done, back out and shut down and remove disk. Insert windows disk and boot up...install windows.

It depends on what the "reset" disc actually is. If it's a Windows recovery disc, then no, you don't have what you need to reinstall Windows.
To get Windows back on, you need the original DVD's either shipped with the laptop, or created during the initial startup of the laptop when it was bought. If yo don't have either, then you'll need to call the manufacturer and have them ship you the install media (and it will probably cost a bit too).
