What has Russia done to try to prevent NATO expansion in Eastern Europe?

    First, they made a lot of diplomatic noise.

    Then, they stirred up unrest among ethnic Russian minorities in countries considering joining NATO, especially in the Baltics.

    Then, they invaded the fcuk out of all their neighbors, starting with Ukraine.
