Does anybody understand NATO expansion in Eastern Europe?

Are there any positive consequences of NATO expansion in Eastern Europe?

    Yes, if you are a citizen of Poland, Latvia et al. These people do not want to be in the Russian sphere.

    Then, there's freedom of choice which Russia claimed in Crimea and eastern Ukraine but this apparently is not a two way street according to them.

    Strategically, it gives the west bases closer to one of its greatest adversaries and puts a buffer zone of friendly territory between Russia and Western Europe.

    The certain positive is to keep the Russian bear in his cage as much as possible; that was always the purpose.

    Of course, with a transformational president like His Worship hanging in the White House, all bets are...OFF.
