Chicago Hotels near the "EL"?

I plan to visit Chicago for a few days in the winter. I will be driving from Canada and would rather not drive and park everywhere I plan to visit in the city. I would rather drive to my hotel and hop the EL to get around.

I would like to spend under $100 USD.

How would I go about finding this? Most websites do not work with this search.

Ain't no free parking at any downtown hotel - and ain't no street parking downtown. Metered on-street spaces in Chicago (any neighborhood) are outrageously expensive, and many are 24/7, thanks to a crooked deal the last mayor entered into.

If you want to save money, find a hotel near O'Hare airport, or the north suburbs of Skokie or Evanston. Many of these hotels are in the ~$100-125 range and usually offer you a shuttle to suburban attractions and commuter trains. Each of these three areas are near CTA "L" lines and the hotels offer free parking. "L" rides will take 40-60 minutes to get you downtown. The CTA runs buses and trains to almost every attraction in the city, and you can get an unlimited visitor's pass.

That's because you won't find a hotel for less than 100 downtown. EVER.

there are some hostels for 30 to 40 a night.

Fyi, NO hotel, motel or hostel downtown have free parking. Overnight parking runs about 25 to 40 a night
