1995 Honda civic question.?

Does timing belt have a tensioner? I ask this because my belt snapped I got an exact replacement but my mechanic claims its too short . Did he not loosen the tensioner? Its a 1995 Honda civic 1.5/6 (cant remember) single cam right hand drive

you need to get the engine code from the engines block, US engines have a # past the engine's code letter.

    I.E

US civic engine code, D15B1 or D15B6 or D16A6.. Japanese same engines are D15B or D16A, no numbers after the last letter

IF your car has a swapped engine for a Japanese engine chances are that the belts will not match the engine. IF you bought a T belt for a U.S engine and it was swapped the belt will not fit, BUT you can find a Tbelt from another year that will fit.

as for you mechanic IF the engine code is from US, and he can't fit it, you need a new mechanic don't even trust your mower machine to that guy.
