Was that brought up at the debates?

I always thought a massive wage cut could be the cure for inflation.

    Just... bring it back down.

But it would be impossible to regulate. Nearly every single business - not only companies like Wal Mart - but every business itself would somehow have to be regulated to bring a price downward in accordance with some sort of value graph. And then, I guess, we could work on undercutting the rest of the world or something, but the rich would become megarich. The poor population, who we are trying to help by screwing with the economy in general, wouldn't really benefit, I guess. A millionaire might feel like he's living in the 80s again, but who else would care?

LOL, and what am I missing from my calculation?

Nah, even if I knew enough about economics to draft a proper method of how to increase the value of America and the dollar by reducing wage inflation - even if the USA was only the size of a small town - I don't think it would be possible to implement.

The oddest thing about that is that, for each dollar spent, raising the minimum wage will do more to stimulate the economy than practically anything else. In fact, the real job creators are consumers and the more pay consumers receive the more jobs are created.

No business hires anyone unless it can make a profit from hiring someone. The more wealthy one is, the less the percentage of one's income is spent on goods and services. People on minimum wage spend almost one hundred percent of their income on goods and services. So, when they get a raise in the minimum wage, they spend more. When they spend more, businesses sell more. When businesses sell more, they hire more workers. So, adding wages to those on a minimum wage really creates jobs. Adding money to the top rarely does anything to help the economy.

I have a better idea: show us all how NOT a hypocrite YOU ALL ARE and share YOUR salary with others paid less than YOU! And they never said that.. but I bet everyone's salary could buy more if their dollar wasn't worth 60 cents! And when rents and cost of living goes up like it DID in Seattle, I bet the next thing you all will want to do is raise social security and other federal payouts because they don't get the same raise! And I bet Burger King still gets people's orders wrong! You people want better pay without any of the EFFORT to get it... everyone starts out with MW jobs but we "evolve" to better ones... but then you all are too busy denigrating those "corporations" and electing SOCIALISTS to get better jobs!

Your question is devoid of merit, with all due respect.. In the first place, there should be no minimum wage law AT ALL, and if you can point to the place in the Constitution that provides for it, I will pay you a high wage.

Wages are to be determined by the law of supply and demand, as well as a person's skill level, honestly, integrity, dedication and other pertinent factors. It is not within the scope of government to interfere with a private, mutually agreeable contract between consenting adults. Again, you are invited to reference the Constitution to back up any arguments you might present.

Many Republicans have already taken paycuts. They seem to welcome the idea of paycuts by pushing the right-to-work agenda. That's code for right to work for less. Yet their presidential candidates complain that average American wages have been stagnant for decades. Of course conservatives helped that situation along in several ways. One way was by discouraging unions to the point those institutions have nearly disappeared in most workplaces. There is little left now to impede the reversal of wage growth that Americans saw in the years up to the early 1970s, when the slide in wage growth began.

Just as many Hillary supporters are willing to get fired so their ex-coworkers can get paid $15 an hour min wage.

$15 an hour to cook french fries....How ludicrous is that....Start at $7-$8 and work your way up....If you don't deserve a raise judging from your work ethic and performance, you don't get the raise. But then greed plays a major roll in the $15 per hour movement.

Each person is responsible for how much he/she makes. No company or government is. If you put in minimum effort for a good job, you will get a minimum effort job.
