I'm moving with just a normal sized car?

My husband and I live in Central PA, and come April, we need to move to St. Petersburg, FL. We just got out of college, and don't have good paying jobs, so we can't afford a grand to move.

We don't have much, just a small room's worth of things we would really like to bring, and two cats. The problem is, all of our things won't fit in a small four door sadan that we have, and the car isn't suitable for towing.

So does anyone know of any ways we could get about 4 large totes worth of things down to florida for less than 500 or 600 dollars?

Buy a roof rack and lash the totes to the roof. Or ship them via the Post Office or UPS. I have sent large boxes across the country for around $30 to $50 each.

Actually for under $300 you can have a light duty trailer hitch installed on even a small car (I have one on my Mazda) and you can buy a small trailer for around $200 at Harbor Freight Tools.

I shipped luggage home from Hawaiian trip through the post office and fedex. There are lots of shipping options. Take the cats. they are living creatures and more important than Stuff.

Could ship it via UPS or other carriers. Might be cheaper to put a carrier on top of your car and take them with you that way.

You could use Greyhound (not sure what their fees might be--call and ask). Or, if the totes and their contents weigh less than 70 each, you can ship with the USPS (post office).

if it's only 4 totes size wise - have you checked pricing on UPS/fedex?

Leave the cats behind. Cats really don't like to move, and two of them will be nothing but trouble.

    TD's - you were warned......

    Sure.

    Ship them via UPS.

Are you moving for a job? If so, they should provide relocation assistance.
