A good tip is to have a place for everything. If you can get one shelf or box or something for toys and always put it there when you're done, have a laundry basket so that if clothes is dirty you can put it there, and the clean clothes always goes into a drawer or closet, and you have a desk to keep devices, pens, books, whatever, then things will always be where they should be, or if you use something you can put it back right away. If you have papers from school, rather than having them all over your floor, keep them in a stack on your desk, put it in a binder when you don't need it right away, or throw it out if you're done with something. Don't keep food in your room. Also beware of clutter of things you don't really need so you can donate them or something.
To vacuum, idk, make sure nothing's on the floor and vacuum. If you're from a wealthier family, you can buy a roomba and let it clean the floor for you.

Ok what I do is I do the BIG clean that means I take all the clothes anything you have put it in the middle of he room then fold all the clothes put them nicely in your closet and take anything left either books or shoes and put them in the right spot when you have the floor empty make your bed and get the big one (the vacuum cleaner) and start at the end of the room and make your way to the door you can use the hose for corners and sides of the wall.this BIG clean is worth it and you just have to make sure you put every time e right thing in its spot like when you enter the room don't throw your clothes on the bed I am 13 too and this worked for me!:) hope you get done with your room and let me know!

Okay, I'm a somewhat messy person too so I have a few tips I've picked up over the years.
Firstly, DON'T EAT IN YOUR ROOM! It's the number one thing not to do, not only does it get crumbs everywhere and attract ants, sometimes you find rappers wedged in weird places. Secondly, utilize your space and try to find new ways to beat your own laziness and untidiness. I personally always had clothes all over the place, so I got a laundry basket and put it the middle of the room. I still put all my clothes on my chair but, it makes the transition form chair to basket easier when it's in my room.
Also... place your shoe rack near to the door, if you're anything like me, you like to take your shoes off as soon as you get in your room. If you have your shoe rack right at the front, it's not that much effort to line them up nicely.
As for cleaning, just make sure to get all the spots. Pay extra attention to corners as they trap dirt really well. Don't forget to get under rugs, the blades on the ceiling fan, countertops etc...
All the best!

Never eat food or drink anything but water in your bedroom.
As soon as you take your clothes off, decide if they are ready to go into the laundry or can be hung up on a hook to wear again. Your really clean clothes should be on hangers in your closet or folded in your drawers.
Don't put books or any papers on the floor, ever. You can put them on your desk or on the top of your dresser or on bookshelves, but never, ever on the floor.
Don't wear your outside shoes in your bedroom. Keep them by the front door or in a front downstairs coat closet. You can put extra special shoes in your closet on a shoe rack or in a shoe bag that hangs over the door.
When you clean(once a week should be enough), take everything off of the surface you are cleaning and put it in a box or in a basket. Then wipe or dust off that surface. Then dust each item you removed and either put it back, if it belongs there, or put it where it does belong. You should have a place for everything you have, where it really does belong and has a place of its own. If you do not have a place for everything, you have too much stuff. This means that you will have to get rid of some of your old stuff, or stuff you don't like and never use.
The floor should be easy to vacuum when it is not covered with stuff. You have to get all the stuff off the floor in order to vacuum.

Im also 13 and i fins myself in this situation often. I am an actress so I sometimes act like i HAVE to keep it clean for somwthing, however you might not enjoy acting as much as myself so maybe you could try setting yourself a forfit if you fail to clear something away the second u finish using it?? This works for me to :)

When you use something put it back where found it.
Dirty clothes go in to the hamper
make your bed
throw away trash
vacuum
