Yes it most definitely makes them more girly, I love changing the spelling of masculine names to make them look more feminine.

Out of the ones you listed I like the respelling of Maisyn the best but they are all such cute spellings.

I think no matter how you spell the names, it wont change the sound. Most people will never see the spelling. It will only lead to having to correct and spell their name for others every time spelling does come up. I also do not believe there's anything inherently feminine about the letter Y, except that it's a recent trend, which may lead to the name coming off as very dated when the fad ends and only the older generation is associated with it.

I think a better take on this would be to use variants of these names which represent a timeless expression of femininity, by using practical names that will mature well.

Mason: Maeve, Maya, Marilyn, Mavis

Carson: Carly, Caroline, Cara

Brice: Bria, Briar, Britta, Grace, Joyce, Carys

Camden: Carmen, Karen, Ceridwen, Camille, Cambria

James: Jamie, Gemma, Jenna, Jane, Jasmine, Jade

Caden: Cadence, Cadis, Cadwen, Katy

Giving a girl a masculine name is bad enough but butchering the spelling is something I draw the line on. Femininizing the spelling will never make the name unisex or feminine; it won't take the masculine SOUND away. Giving a girl an obvious boys name with an so called, "feminine" spelling is pathetic in my book. And not only that, it makes me think that the parents of the girl or whoever named her are incredibly young, juvenile and ignorant or not very intelligent.

All those names you listed should remain on boy regardless of spelling.

Sorry but there are PLENTY of girl names out there which aren't overly feminine, girly and frilly. They do exsist

Some of them work, but others are still masculine. Karsyn, Kamdyn, Bryse, and Kaidyn work, but Jaymes doesn't. Just keep in mind the spelling may be more girly, but not the pronunciation.

Honestly I hate this trend. I think it looks trashy. The names are now not only masculine, but also misspelled. A double no.
