Does this poem [Eleven Fingers] evoke emotion?
When Mattias was a boy, his Daddy
used to tell him he had:
Eleven fingers.
This amazed Mattias, because he would
clutch each individual finger
off both Daddy's mitts; huge, glove-like
Rugged hands of a carpenter
Soft touch of a surgeon
He slowly sounded off one by one
Left hand: Ten, nine, eight, seven, six
and
Five are eleven [11]
Daddy raised both limbs; flashed eleven
Hugged Mattias and said;
“I love you son”
Mattias felt that love, but
Was marveled that his Father had
Eleven fingers

No,I read this a few times and didn't feel a thing.
Truthfully, this lacked action or any drama.

The poem means a lot to the author because it's a true story,
vividly remembered. He knew his father loved him because
he felt it and never doubted it. This thing that flummoxed
young Mattias was the eleven fingers. Sure enough, his
Daddy showed him, but he could not understand how,
thus, he was marveled.
I love the differerent answers, how for some it means nothing
and no emotion and others felt some connection. I love what
poetry can do, and what is can't do. It cannot please everyone,
but if it works for one, it's worth the effort.
