Does your body stop making saliva when you sleep?

Throughout the day I often have to swallow because of saliva but when I wake up in the morning, I sometimes have a dry mouth. So I'm wondering, does your body stop making salvia when you sleep?

No, the body doesn't stop making saliva while you sleep...but it is reduced. If too much saliva is made while you're sleeping and it has nothing to break down (saliva contains enzymes that break down polysaccharides) it will kill bacteria...but there shouldn't be much bad actor in your mouth as you sleep. On the other hand...if it produces too little saliva, the mouth will become very dry...which is also unhealthy.
