Electrical question?

Update:

I want to attach a 120 volt single phase motor to a wall plug. it is a 2 prong plug with 1 side larger (height) than the other. Which side of the plug gets the white lead/which the black. I think this has to do with polarity, but I'm not sure

    Electrical answer.

    The wider prong is the neutral side (white wire).

    The narrow prong is the hot side (black wire).

    Don't mix these up!
