What was it like as a child in the 70's?
Could someone describe it on a non-pretentious way please?

I guess the most obvious difference between then and now was that we didn't have computers, (some workplaces had them, but even that was uncommon), and no cell phones. We had television of course, but had to wait for shows to be be broadcast, couldn't just access them when we felt like it.
I think as a child, we had a bit more freedom, people were not so worried about crime against kids then.
One thing that strikes me now, is that more people smoked, and were pretty much allowed to smoke almost anywhere. Anyone who objected was seen as petty.
Another big difference was the amount of overt racism. I remember at my first job, in the late 70's, I overheard a discussion between two managers about whether they would need to change their policy of not hiring "blacks", not because of any legal concern, but just because they were having trouble finding white people to work on the day shift. This was in New Jersey, not the south.
I hope that helps, and was not overly pretentious.
Now I feel really old.

We spent most of the time hunting mastodons and keeping the fire in the cave going. On the other hand, we did know how to use prepositions correctly, so that, for example, we would have said "IN a non-pretentious way," not "ON," which makes no sense.
