What kind of bird is this?
My mother's boyfriend found this little guy in the middle of the road. The bird seems very friendly but obviously not a pet, won't fly and is very content to just lie down. It looks like its toe is swollen.
The nearest vet has put down the last two wild bords I brought in "because they're not worth it".
I can get the bird to a good vet tomorrow afternoon, but in the mean time...help!
What kind of bird is it?
I shouldn't feed it, right?

Don't try to feed the bird because it could very easily choke and die. Call you local animal rescue, they will give you greate info and hopefully heal it. It's best kept in a cardboard box with a good temp. It needs to stay calm until you can get to a rescue center, PS they are out there willing to help. I recently saved a red winged hawk from death the same way.. Thanks

It's a baby something as stated. Try feeding it some bread soaked in beaten egg yolk. That works for nearly all infant birds.

I think it is either a baby magpie or a mudlark. If that is the case then insect (mainly mealworms, which you can get from the pet shop) as well as an Insectivor mix (also from petshop). If you still have the baby, I can also give you a meatball recipe you can do for him, just to help give him a bit more protein.
What area are you located? I can try and find a carer or a rehabilitation center for you.

It would be helpful if you stated what part of the world you found this bird. It looks like a magpie of some type.
