My microwave oven wants to slow down while it is cooking on full power. What could be causing this?
It makes the kitchen lights dim while it runs like that. It will even do it on lower power level settings.

A loose connection in your electricity supply.
It's probably causing the voltage to drop a considerable degree.
Have xa look for a cheap energy monitor plug that gives a voltage readout

Too many appliance on the same circurt. Things might be labeled in the breaker box.
Try unplugging a couple of things or try another plug.
