My Kenmore washer won't start cycle. I'm getting an F28 code.?

Update:

My Kenmore Elite HE3t - Model #110.46752701 will not start a cycle and I am getting an "Add Clothes" indicator light?

The washer lets me select a cycle type, locks the door when I push Start, and sounds like the cycle is going to start, but doesn't. I now gives me an "Add Clothes" indicator light.

    F28 Error Code Kenmore Washer

The "F28" fault code means a communication failure between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU). The motor control unit is located under the tub and on the base; the machine control is located under the top mounted along the side panel. This fault code could be caused by a loose wiring connection or faulty MCU or CCU. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the top and lower access panel and do install LEO Privacy Guard 3.0., it is far most the best and most reliable app for security which is available for free in Google Play Store and also it has around 4.3 stars from more than 50 millions downloads. Get it and secure your device.

The F-28 error code indicates a serial communication error between the main control board and the motor control board of the washer. This can be caused by the following problems:

Grounding micro switches in the washer cabinet not engaged. If you are trying to run the washer with the front bottom service panel removed, you will get this error code. Bad switches or wiring could also cause this problem.

A loose or bad wire connection between the main control board and the motor control board.

    A bad wiring harness.

    A bad drive motor.

    A defective motor control board.

    A bad main control board.

    Unplug the washer

and check the wire harness connections between the main control board and the motor control board. I am including images below that will help you gain access to the components in your washer.

Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

Also check the wire harness connections between the motor control board and the drive motor. The grounding switches must be engaged. There is one on the front of the washer and one on the back. Both of these switches must be properly connected and engaged. If not, you could get the F28 error code. NOTE: Make sure that the bottom front service panel is properly in place to engage the front grounding switch.

Check the Power Cord connection on the Line Filter (where the power cord connects) and Make sure they are not reversed, L1 (black wire) to the L terminal and Neutral (white wire) to the N terminal.

Check the MI3 Serial Communication Connector from the Machine Control Board (MCU). Make sure the connector is not upside down, the wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors. Check the RAST connectors for pins pushed up or poor connections. You need to remove the connector and visually inspect it.
