DDR4 memory speed compatibility with motherboard help.?
I am thinking of building a Pc on Christmas. On CyberMonday sales I bought 16GB (4x4) Corsair LPX DDR4 kit. Its speed is 2666MHz and the motherboard I am looking foward to getting is MSI z-170 Krait which supports 2600(OC) and 2800(OC) memory. Will my memory be underclocked, overclocked or stock on this motherboard? Also this mobo or Z170-A Asus are my only options to fit in my budget (extremely tight budget as I am 16 and currently off work).
In case you want to know here are my specs:
MSI Z-170 Krait
i5 6600K
Coolermaster EVO 212
Define S
R9 390 XFX
RM850i*
16GB Corsair LPX*
1TB Samsung EVO 850*
(*)-What I already bought on Black Friday and Cyber Monday
After I enable XMP in the BIOS that is.

A weird way of doing it buying memory first - I normally get the best board I can afford and then put the fastest maximum memory on it.

i've never had any problem with memory running under its stock rated speed. it's only when you push it past it's ratings that you're likely to run into trouble. you should check the rated voltage for the memory against what the board provides
