I have come to believe that Islam and Western democracies, are by their nature incompatible and should be separated.?
In the real world there are NO such things as progressive moderate Muslims. There are Muslims who dont have enough numbers to influence the democratic system, but as soon as they do they attempt to introduce Sharia, and other changes, which are not really compatible with western values.

Agree totally, but racism and discrimination must also be avoided, so the practicalities will be a problem.
The emphasis must be though upon any immigrants adapting to the local culture, not the local culture giving way to the demands of the immigrants. Assimilation not takeover.

I disagree, I don't think any sort of separatism is needed. I think what would be a better scenario is if Islam reformed to be more compatible with Western secularism. Every other religion has done so, Christianity for the most part, certainly learned to do this long ago.

Many Islamic countries, Turkey for example, are secular and aren't that big on Shariah law.
