Looks (physical attributes) aside, what attracts you to someone (makes you want to know them)? Is it the same for women and men?

Aside from looks? I find people attractive who seem interesting (sharing mutual interests), funny and down-to-earth. If they seem boring, pretentious, shallow, self-centered or unkind, or interested in things that I don't like, then I don't bother.

I think it's hard to say what is true for ALL women or ALL men. In general, it seems that men are more interested in looks than women - that's not to say women aren't attracted to looks, too, but I'm just saying in general, men tend to put more emphasis on looks. But I've also known plenty of men who care less about looks and more about finding a woman who is not clingy nor helpless, is fun to be around, good cook, good in bed, shares their value and interests, etc.

I think as we mature it's the same and then again it's the same ( if you get my drift ) We men if serious about relationships and friendships with others are looking for sameness in our like and dislikes. We shouldn't forget the the differences between us and others may also be the thing that attracts. Be yourself look for one who is themselves and be happy

Sense of humour, respect, devotion without obsession, equality in the sense that we will both cook sometimes, take it in turn to book holidays and hopefully like each other equally etc. For me being healthy is important but again not obsessively so. And I like good manners. Intelligence is good. And a different profession to mine is interesting! Different talents. Different skills. But as long as we have eating and drinking in common it should be fine!!!!!

Aside from looks, I personally am attracted to people who will show you discreet interest in public. Something like eye contact, leaving a cute note where you know they will find it, or something like whispering in your ear when they walk next to you or past you.

In all it's simplicity, someone who has a caring/good heart is enough for me to want to know them. From then on if they are interesting and passionate, I'm all for. XD

What attracts most of us to each other is shared values and goals....once you get passed the lust!
