What goes in a travel journal?
So I know there's the writing and post cards and all that jazz, but I was wondering what places.
I'm from the SF Bay Area so I can make almost everyday an adventure. Berkeley, so many beaches, San Francisco, Sacramento, Oakland, ect...
What counts as traveling? One of my friends told me to write about our last beach trip (1.5 hour drive) in my travel journal. I didn't think that would qualify as "traveling" but I would also like to remember it. What do you think?
Thanks!

I love to write about adventures I've had to! When I go somewhere special (like on vacation or on a special trip I'd like to remember) I try to find one thing I can keep from that day. A few years ago, my best friend and I went to the beach and I put a little sand in a baggy and tapped it in my travel journal. Earlier this year, my mom, bro and I went to the Poconos and I got some leaves to press into the book. Keepsakes from nature are always cool. Also, I try to take pictures 1 or 2 pictures for each trip, then when the notebook is filled up, I print all of them out and keep them with the book so I can look through them. Sometimes i let people sign the page or leave a message. Cool stuff like that is always fun to look at later on. :) hope this helped. Good luck!

LIFE is traveling. "I was in the corner café having coffee and the most interesting couple struck up a conversation with me. We talked about ABC, and then went off into XYZ....." I think the most important thing is POV - is this journal for public reading, or possibly so, or is it truly a personal diary only for your eyes? "And as he kissed me he reached under my blouse" is something you really might write in a diary, but not for a public thing. What do you think when you look up at the sky? "Wow, it's blue" or "It was a glorious day, clear and cold, and the sky was dotted with wisps of thin clouds"? This is what writers do....

It's your journal. If it's something you'd like to remember, then why not? I consider anything outside of your house "traveling", so I think you should put it in there. You're making it for your enjoyment, right? So go for it.
