I m torn between whether I want to foster or adopt children.?

I have always felt that I don t want to have children naturally. I have no desire to carry a child, but I do have a heart for orphans. I have a lot of love to give to children who haven t received it in their life.

I am torn between being a foster parent or being an adoptive parent. I could help more children by fostering, but would also cherish lifelong relationships with children. Anyone who has had either experience want to weigh in?

You don't have to choose between them, you can foster to adopt, and you can continue to foster children after you have adopted.

Fostering a child is about meeting their basic needs and providing a safe home for them for a short while, but it's not parenting. Adoption is for when you want to actually raise and parent a child and form a lifelong bond with them.

First of all, thank you so much for your kind heart for these children.

I think you should foster, you can always adopt a foster child if their parents rights have been taken away.

I will warn you being a foster parent can be very heart breaking but very rewarding in being a part of another humans life, especially through this difficult time they are going though. Good luck to you!

I have had a lot of experience with fostering. We fostered for 34 yrs caring for 100 children. It was heartbreaking to see them go back to the same life they were removed from; Yet I am happy I lived my dream of fostering. I also adopted from foster care. There is quite a process to go through to be approved for fostering ad for adoption.

Don't give up on your dream.

Maybe you can adopt a child then also be a foster parent that way you can have a permanent child and still love and care for lots of others

You can foster first and that can lead to adoption. Fostering is much harder than adoption. You grow to love the children and then they are taken away, and don't always go to a good situation. Adoption is much more permanent.

Why not see if you can foster children who are available for adoption?

Here in UK it is unlikely you can adopt a child if you are able to have your own, you might be able to adopt a young teen with behaviour problems or one of those starving ones from Africa but not a baby or young child so try fostering first.

I would go for adoption. You can help a foster child but they are too often returned to unsuitable parents.

Foster a child and once you form a bond, adopt him/her.
